From AI to algorithms, product development to cybersecurity, innovation is the lifeblood of the technology sector. And it’s a particularly hot topic for the government right now, too, with Chancellor Rachel Reeves reiterating the importance of research & development (R&D) for the economic development of the UK, through the proposed creation of an industrial strategy. But if the purpose of the industrial strategy is to help small & medium enterprises (SMEs) grow, are the government doing enough?
Hosted by Buzzacott’s R&D expert, Iain Butler, this discussion will cover the ways in which innovation is currently funded – including through R&D tax credits and grants – and the ways in which more could be done to promote innovation the UK tech sector. You’ll be able to share your experiences of accessing and using government support and learn how your peers have also utilised this support. We’ll be discussing the changes the Chancellor proposed in the Autumn Budget, as well as the recent green paper consultation in this space. This event is a fantastic opportunity to share your thoughts on current government policy, helping to shape the discussion with government, and network and learn from your peers in the industry.
Iain has recently taken part in a number of government discussions and consultations around the R&D tax credits scheme, and he will use the takeaways from this discussion to propose a response around R&D policy. Don’t miss the chance to be part of this exciting and important discussion.
