Being dual-qualified, he is able to service both the US and UK tax needs of a broad spectrum of clients ranging from entrepreneurs and managers of small businesses to senior executives (both working and retired). As well as assisting non-domicile clients with UK tax issues, he also advises UK citizens who are either resident or soon-to-be resident in the US or who have other cross-border issues.
Hugh enjoys getting to know his clients and helping them to successfully navigate the increasingly complex US and UK tax landscapes by providing proactive and considerate advice, while relieving the pressure of their annual compliance burdens.
Hugh often draws on the wider specialisms available within Buzzacott to provide added value to his clients. He works closely with our Corporate Tax team to advise on the optimum UK corporate structure for US-controlled entities as well as working with our Financial Planning team to provide tax efficient investing and pension drawdown advice.
Hugh read Economics at the University of Bristol before joining Deloitte in a graduate role. He is a member of the Association of Taxation Technicians (ATT) and an IRS Enrolled Agent (EA).
Away from his desk Hugh enjoys both following and playing a number of different sports – albeit in an increasingly leisurely capacity. He also has a keen interest in art and travel, often spending time in his adopted country of Brazil.
